Lamps and bases for sale

Over the past 45 years I have often been asked to re purpose a slag glass lamp that has served a family for many years.  There is no one reason or a simple reason why these antique lamps have been left in my care.  Other than to say they are donated with heavy hearts and memories.  This collection of slag glass lamps reflects an understanding with the original owners.  That I find a new family that is willing to cherish their 100+ year old lamp.  Some of the lamps in my collection have been completely restored and some left as I received them. Many of the slag glass lamps for sale were made by Bradley and Hubbard, E Miller, Salem Brothers, Chicago Mosaic, Rainaud or Moe Bridges.  These are just some of the popular period manufacturers between 1900-1945.  Many are unmarked but all are genuine original 1900-1945 period unless noted.  All antique slag glass lamps for sale are available if posted.  If your serious about a lamp I can best help you if you call me.  Emails can be confusing and provoke even more questions and work.  I would love to help you so please call me Len at 401-314-6005 (12-6ESTime).

Buying antique lighting on line:  I love my work and helping people.  People that own antique lighting already know antiques are often broken, need repairs, used, worn, repaired, restored, faded, brittle, very old, and sold as is.  That being said a buyer should know this and understand what they are looking at is not new.  The condition of items is reflected in the photo’s.  IF you want more pictures please call me.  If you have questions about issues an item may have please call me on the phone.  It’s much easier to call me if your serious about purchasing a lighting fixture and not 10 emails.  Often these calls are subjective to my personal feelings but I may be able to assist you and your concerns.  For example your unable to tell if a pull chain socket is working perfectly or the finish is flaking in a picture.  In most cases I have already made reference to issues in the listing if I’m aware of them.  Example: I may list (needs new wiring) (paint is chipping) (socket is newer and not original) (shade and base are not matching) (lamp has prior repairs) etc.

Why buy from meBecause you will get what you pay for.  Well finding antique lighting on Facebook market place, Ebay and Craiglist are the first places clients compare.  Basically your still shopping on line, getting lighting as is, dealing with shipping and lots of questions and concerns. But saving money.   Trust me when I say you will get what your paying for.
All the seller on these platforms are selling you problems.  How do I know this?  Because most of the people that purchase on these platforms call me after they receive their lighting.  In most cases they purchased poor past repairs, severely modified lamps, missing parts and unexpected glass and metal damages from poor shipping.  My favorite is the poor boxing used by the seller causing glass damage.  These are some of the lucky people.  Some buyers  purchased lighting that’s not even a genuine antique but made in China.  In most cases I’m unable to help these people because of the repair costs.  You may be one of the lucky one’s and experience no issues or be one of the many that turns the bad side of a lamp to the wall.
The lamps on my website are ready to display.  In most cases I have already performed some form of restoration and corrected past poor repairs if noted.  This saves you hundreds of dollars and lots of aggravation.   After 45 plus years professionally working on restoring antique lighting I know what I’m representing.  I may also know a little history about the lighting fixture your looking at.  Every lighting fixture on my website is unique and if its listed as needing something its clearly described in the description and shown in the pictures.

Slag glass lamps for Sale

Slag glass lamp for saleWater Lily & Lighted Base” Circa 1920’s

# 31 IN STOCK  $4,300     I acquired and restored this lamp about 10 years ago with some stipulations and requiring a lot of work.  The last owner said it was in her family for over 80 years and belonged to her mother in upper New York state.   The lamp made several moves during her ownership and expressed she wanted its next owner to cherish the lamp as her family did for almost a century.   Both the shade and base required painting.  One coat primer, two base coats, 5% air brush decorative and one coat sealer.  The lamp was completely rewired using a new 10′ brown rayon braided cord set with molded polarized plug end.  The two original upper fat boy porcelain sockets have two nice matching ball pull chains and are in good working condition.  The lower stationary fat boy socket is also porcelain and in good condition.  Because the original glass was mostly damaged and discontinued back in the 1940’s.  I used a rare “two green textured mix” color made by Kokomo glass.  Kokomo was one of the largest supplier of glass in the lighting industry since the 1880’s. The new bent lily green opal granite textured glass is beautiful with the lights off and emits a glowing hue when the lights are on.  This lamp is one of my favorite lamps and used in my home for the past 10 years.  It’s now available as promised to the next family.  Bulbs not included.   Questions please call.

  • Shade 18 ” Dia x 7 1/2″ H  – Lamp height 20 1/2″.    Sizes are approximate less finial
  • Perfect for any room
  • No metal  or glass breaks
  • New bottom hatch tin door
  • 2 Matching Fat boy pull chain sockets, ball ends in good working condition
  • 6 Matching green- granite textured slag glass panels
  • 2 Matching light house slag glass panels
  • Rewired original porcelain sockets with 10′ brown Rayon braided cord set with polarized plug
  • Interdependent on off base switch

Slag glass lamp for sale1920’s Rare Kiss Brothers

# 19    IN STOCK  $1,475      This is a rare Kiss Bros. lamp marked on the base.  The shade and base are original and matching.  The metal work is a decorated floral design.  With 6 caramel opal matching flat glass panels.  Perfect for any home.   The lamp has very minor paint chipping which is relative to the age and use.  This lamp most likely had only one or two homes and was cherished and cared for by the owners.  The original Weber fat boy sockets click fine and work great.  Because the wiring is older and as I received it.  I would suggest a new rewire at this time.  Bulbs are not included.  Questions please call for questions.

  • 2 Pull chain fat boy sockets ball chain ends
  • 6 flat slag glass panels

Slag glass lamps for Sale

Slag glass lamp for sale(#B112) IN STOCK   $1,255 Genuine 1920’s lighted base

This is a genuine 1920’s lighted lamp base.  The original Spanish gold untouched painted metal shows age and use.  Which gives the base a really nice antique look.   This is a great opportunity to own a true classic lighted base for your slag glass shade.  The two caramel (Kokomo) matching glass panels will accommodate and compliment many other shade shades during the early 1900’s.  The top electrical  cluster has two matching G.E period sockets.  Each G.E fat boy socket has a 5″ tassel pull chain end.   Above the double sockets the base has a 2 1/4″ cap area with a male threaded hickey for your finial.  The interior key less socket uses an independent switch to turn on.  Complete with the original tin base door. Your shade design for this period lighted base would typically be a Bradley and Hubbard white metal shade with a floral detail design.  Because the base is heavy and stable I would suggest your shade could be on the larger size 18-20″ diameter depending on the shape.  While the base looks old, faded and worn it represents a genuine antique appearance.  This lamp has been rewired with a 8′ braided brown rayon cord set and is ready to go for many more years.

Slag glass lamps for Sale

Slag glass lamp for sale(#B102) IN STOCK $675  Bradley and Hubbard lamp base

This antique Bradley and Hubbard lamp base is made of a cast iron plated brass base with the B-H label on the bottom.  The upper parts of the base design are solid brass parts.  The unique brass curling arms and brass center tubes  are from 1920-30’s.  The  100 year OLD brown brass plated finish looks great with a few age spots on the surface.   A quality lamp at the time it still has the matching Hubbell double socket set with pull chains.  Hubbell was known for the conversion of paddle turns to pull chains during this time with his patented quality pull chain sockets.   Your shade design for this period base would typically be a Bradley and Hubbard white metal shade with simple detail such as a geometric or symmetrical filigree metal design.  It could also be a very simple Handel design with decorative glass and no overlay letting the base design be the focus.  This is a very stable base with a medium height so your shade diameter would ideally be 16″ in diameter depending on its shape. I would say its been well maintained and shows no damage or notable issues other than age spots and use.  Rewired and ready to use.

Sizes and specs are estimates

  • 17 3/4″ height
  • 8″ base
  • Double matching Hubbell porcelain sockets with 5 1/2″ acorn pull chain ends

Slag glass lamp for sale(#B104) IN STOCK  Moe Bridges style $725

This very stable and heavy base is typical of a Moe Bridges style lamp (no manufactures mark).  The cast iron metal base has a plated copper color finish with green variegated hints.   Above it has a brass tube with early period G.E porcelain sockets.  The double pull chain socket cluster has a matching copper color.  The pull chains are matching Moe Bridges style weighted ends.  This very stable mushroom shape base bottom has the style of many Moe Bridges base bottoms but with no manufactures name or marking.    The base would work perfect with any white metal shades or stained glass lamp shades.   Again the lamp base is very stable with a medium height so your shade diameter could ideally be 18″ in diameter depending on its shape and weight. The finished plated  metal has been well maintained and shows a little chipping to the base bottom and a small dent to the shade rest cap.  No other noticeable issues other than age and use.  Rewired and ready to use.

Slag glass lamp for sale1920’s Fleur de lis

(#B107 IN STOCK)  $625

This antique French Fleur de lis white metal lamp base is simple and sleek with a gloss lacquer finish.  The lines are crisp and clean.  The center motif design is symbolic of the flower which is one of the oldest historical design elements still used today.  The cluster top still has the matching old 1920’s Weber sockets.  Each Weber shell has porcelain sockets with 8″ ball pull chains.   Your shade design for this period base could be just about any style from classical to floral.  Again the metal design is so simple and refined the shade would be the focus and the base would be the stand.   Because of the base foot print I would suggest your shade could be on the large size 18-20″ diameter.  Overall this antique table lamp base is in very good condition with signs of aging spots to the original lacquer finish on the metal base bottom.   At the bottom you can see how the lacquer has tarnished to a rich gold hue with some aging wear.

Sizes and specs are estimates

  • 21 1/2″ height
  • 9″ base
  • Double Weber porcelain sockets with long 8″ ball pull chain ends
  • Lacquered white metal base
